New Post: Young People’s Counsellor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Young People’s Counsellor to join our friendly and passionate team at Mind in Harrogate District.

This is a rewarding role for a qualified and experienced counsellor who is passionate about supporting young people to improve their emotional wellbeing and mental health. You will provide one-to-one counselling and therapeutic support to young people aged 11-18, helping them to build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies and overcome the challenges they may be facing.

Working across Harrogate and Ripon, you will deliver short-term counselling interventions, undertake assessments and reviews, facilitate weekly young people’s mental health drop-in sessions and work collaboratively with schools, CAMHS, GPs, Early Help services and other local partners. You will play a vital role in ensuring young people have access to safe, timely and effective emotional wellbeing support.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing a varied caseload, experienced in risk assessment and safeguarding, and committed to delivering high-quality counselling within a humanistic and trauma-informed service.

Based from our Harrogate centre (Acorn Centre, HG1 1HB) with delivery across Harrogate and Ripon, you will be joining a supportive and collaborative organisation dedicated to improving mental health outcomes across our local communities.

The post is 18 hours per week until 31st March 2027, reducing to 15 hours per week from 1st April 2027 until 31st October 2029.

The salary will be £28,879.24 FTE (pro rata salary £14,049.36).
