Why You Should Take Part in the Go Bright Fun Run
Looking for a fun, family-friendly event this summer that supports a great cause?
The Go Bright Fun Run is coming to the stunning grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal on Sunday 19th July 2026, and we’d love you to be part of it. Whether you’re an experienced runner, a casual jogger, a keen walker or simply looking for a memorable day out with family and friends, this event is for you.
What is the Go Bright Fun Run?
The Go Bright Fun Run is a colourful, inclusive 5K event organised by Mind in Harrogate District to raise funds for local children and young people’s mental health services. It’s not a race and it’s not timed. Instead, it’s all about coming together, getting active, having fun and supporting better mental health in our community.
Participants are encouraged to wear bright colours, fancy dress, tutus, face paint or anything that helps them “Go Bright” for mental health. There are even prizes for the best-dressed adult, child and dog.
Who is it for?
The simple answer? Everyone.
Families
Looking for an affordable day out during the summer holidays? The Go Bright Fun Run is a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time together outdoors. Children can run, walk, skip or stroll the route alongside parents and carers, and afterwards families can enjoy activities taking place as part of the National Trust’s Summer of Play programme.
First-Time Runners
If you’ve always wanted to take part in a running event but felt intimidated by races, this is the perfect place to start. There are no timers, no pressure and no expectations. Simply take part at your own pace and enjoy the experience.
Walkers
Not a runner? No problem. The event welcomes walkers too, making it accessible to people of all fitness levels who simply want to enjoy a beautiful route while supporting a worthwhile cause.
Friends and Teams
Gather your friends, family members, colleagues or community group and take part together. Team entries are available, making it a great way to build connections while doing something positive.
Dog Owners
Your four-legged friends are welcome too. Bring your dog along, dress them up in their brightest outfit and enjoy the event together.
Why Attend?
Every ticket sold helps Mind in Harrogate District continue providing vital mental health support for children and young people across the Harrogate district. At a time when demand for mental health support continues to grow, your participation can make a real difference.
Experience Fountains Abbey Like Never Before
Participants will enjoy exclusive early access to the grounds before they open to the public. That means you can experience one of Yorkshire’s most iconic locations in a truly unique way, taking in stunning parkland, riverside paths and historic scenery as part of your 5K journey. Go Bright Fun Run ticket holders are welcome to stay on after the event and enjoy the activities on the Ball Games Field as well as explore the wider grounds.
Boost Your Own Wellbeing
Getting active outdoors, spending time with others and connecting with nature can all have a positive impact on mental wellbeing. The Go Bright Fun Run is an opportunity to do something good for yourself while helping others too.
Enjoy a Great Day Out
With music, fancy dress prizes, family activities and a fun, welcoming atmosphere, the Go Bright Fun Run is much more than a 5K. It’s a celebration of community, wellbeing and coming together for a shared cause.
