Mind in Harrogate District offers a range of wellbeing, active, social and peer support groups:
Wellbeing:
Relaxation – a chance to winddown and relax, talking us through a mindful meditation.
Sound Bath– an hour long sound bath, involving listening to chanting, gongs and singing bowls to help us reach a relaxing meditative state.
Mindful Movement – enjoy a combination of breath work, yoga and meditation.
Active:
Strollers Group – a gentle pace walking session around Harrogate town centre, often with a coffee shop visit to finish!
Walking Group – a quicker paced group going slightly further afield, enjoying walks in Valley Gardens and The Stray and of course ending with a coffee shop
Trekking Group – for the more adventurous walkers, once a month a group heads out on a longer walk to Ripley or Knaresborough and hops back to Harrogate on the bus.
Dance – a chance to get groovy! We follow along with a video from Dame Darcy Russell’s Move-Assure Dance for Mental Wellbeing Programme which takes us through a warm up and cool down and teaches us a simple dance routine to encourage movement
Social:
Writing Group – a space to get together and share your creativity. A chance to learn new tips and techniques and test out your writing skills with a task each week that you are welcome to share with the group for some feedback and discussion.
Arts and Crafts – our Art Tutor and her therapy dog run a weekly arts and crafts session. No need to bring anything, all the materials for different projects are provided.
Allotment Group – back from spring time our Allotment Group runs from Forest Avenue in Starbeck. A chance to test out your green fingers and grow some flowers and vegetables, enjoying some time in nature.
Group Trips – on a Friday morning a couple times a month, take part in a trip by bus or train to explore a nearby town.
Friday Feast – our perfect group for socialising before the weekend! Come and have a chat in our comfy space while enjoying a tasty meal.
Board Games at Geek Retreat – meet at a local café in Harrogate town to chat and play board games
Pool Tournament – a chance to test out your pool playing skills in a (friendly!) competition with our very own pool table here at the Acorn Centre
Peer Support:
We run 3 monthly peer support groups: Anxiety, Neurodivergent and Complex Emotional Needs. For more information about these peer supported safe spaces, please go to our Peer Support webpage.
