About Crabapple Cottage

This charming semi-detached cottage is set back from the main road in Hinderwell within a small courtyard and moments away from the local pub. Ideal for a small family this cottage is in a fantastic location for discovering the nearby coastal towns and villages.

You enter into the delightful sitting room which is a very comfortable space with the benefit of a woodburning stove to relax in front of in the evening.

There is also a dining area where you can spread out the maps and plan the next day’s activities.

At the rear of the property is the kitchen which leads out to the long lawned garden featuring a gas BBQ and comfortable garden furniture. An ideal space to enjoy the evening air whilst you let the children and dogs enjoy the space which includes a large ‘springfree’ trampoline.

The bathroom completes the ground floor accommodation and upstairs are two cosy bedrooms, a king-size double and a bunk room with two full size single beds.

The rural village of Hinderwell is a fantastic location between Staithes and Runswick Bay. The X4 bus passes 50 yards from the house offering easy access to both seaside locations. The village is home to a great butchers selling locally reared meats and a selection of fresh fruit and veg along with other household essentials. The fish and chip shop only a short stroll from the cottage along the main street.

We had a lovely last minute stay at Crabapple Cottage. The property was spotless with all required amenities, kitchen and bathroom particular highlights! Location was great for us as a base to explore Staithes, Runswick Bay & Whitby, and the nice pubs in Hinderwell were a great bonus. The communication with the owner prior to check in was brilliant and the welcome goodies were thoroughly appreciated after a rather treacherous journey. The location of the accommodation was perfect and provided a fantastic base to explore the local area. The cottage itself was immaculate and provided all the amenities you could possibly need. Perfect bolt hole – the cottage is thoughtfully furnished with lots of personal touches that make for a cozy holiday home. WiFi is great, garden spacious, kitchen well provided for, bedroom extremely comfortable, parking right outside. The village is superbly situated for walks on the doorstep. The house has everything we could’ve needed. The kids had a safe space to burn off evening energy while we relaxed. Jane responded immediately to the one query we had while there. The cottage had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and the very generous welcome items in the kitchen were much appreciated. It was conveniently situated for some wonderful coastal walks to Runswick Bay and Staithes. We used the bus to get to Whitby, so didn’t need the car once there. We highly recommend this property and would definitely consider staying again, perhaps for longer next time. July 2023

We loved the location as it was close to the coastal path which led to Staithes or Runswick Bay. We were able to catch a bus only a short distance away, which enabled us to start our hikes at different points along the Clevedon Way. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and my dog Alfie loved the long garden. Jane provided a lovely welcome pack for our arrival which was a real treat! The cottage was clean, well decorated and the bed was very comfortable. June 2023

Such a gorgeous cottage, really homely and close to everything. Jane is a great host and is on hand if needed. The welcome pack was fantastic, super comfy beds and really well equipped. Crabapple cottage was like home from home just much more peaceful! Great location with a fab pub and fish & chip shop on the doorstep. A truly charming cottage in an excellent location. We have just returned from a short break to Hinderwell and the surrounding area and could not be more impressed. Jane provided all the information in advance and the cottage was spotless, inviting and had all the charm that the photos suggested. The kids were extremely excited about the bunk beds and the trampoline in the garden was a big hit! Will be rebooking again given the opportunity! April 2023

A beautifully presented cottage; cosy, clean, comfortable with everything we needed for our short stay. In a great location, tucked away just off the main road. A generous welcome pack on arrival which went down a treat! We walked to Runswick Bay for a successful fossil hunting trip and enjoyed a lovely evening meal at The Badger Hounds, just a minutes’ walk from the cottage! Great days out at Whitby and Saltburn-By-The-Sea too. Just wish we could have stayed longer! April 2023

Lovely stay in Hinderwell over the Easter weekend. The cottage was clean, close to various amenities and villages for some great day trips and the trampoline went down extremely well with our 5 year old! Jane is a wonderful host. My husband and I stayed at Crabapple Cottage over Christmas with our little dog, Milly. The cottage was so lovely and cosy and was so well equipped. I cooked a full Christmas dinner with ease. Everything I needed was right to hand in the kitchen. Hinderwell is a gorgeous little village. If you’re looking for a comfortable place to stay, with fabulous walks on the doorstep and a friendly local within a minutes’ walk, look no further than Crabapple Cottage   Dec 2022
