The Difference Our Support Makes at Mind in Harrogate District
Case Study – Mind in Harrogate District Groups attendee:
When this individual first came to us, they were struggling with PTSD and feeling very isolated. Life felt difficult, and even though they were on medication, they didn’t feel connected to anyone.
Their first experience with us was joining the walking group. It was a simple, welcoming way to meet others. From there, they began to attend other groups, slowly building friendships and feeling part of something again.
They told us:
“Coming to the groups and talking to people has really helped my mental health – it feels like a family.”
By joining our groups and also receiving one-to-one support from our staff, they found:
- New friendships with people who understand what they’re going through.
- A safe space where everyone is supportive.
- Growing confidence and a more positive outlook on the future.
They now describe life as improving all the time. While they say they’re taking things “day by day,” they are starting to think about the future again – and even thinking about travelling one day.
What They Say About Us:
“The staff are an amazing, supportive team – I feel like I could talk to any one of them.”
“If you need support, don’t hesitate – just go for it!”
