Boroughbridge Rural Wellbeing Support

Do you live in Boroughbridge or the surrounding villages? Are you struggling with your mental health? We’re here to help!

Our outreach service provides local access to kind and compassionate mental health support in the more rural areas of Harrogate district. Confidential, personalised and accessible appointments are available on Tuesday afternoons at Boroughbridge Morrisons Community Room.

Suitable for low-level mental health problems, we offer:

  • Information on mental health conditions, including coping tips.
  • Assistance in finding groups and activities to improve social connections.
  • Signposting and referrals to other helpful services, such as befriending or counselling.

Our Work at Boroughbridge…

Our outreach efforts also extend beyond our appointments.

Boroughbridge Wellbeing Group

Boroughbridge Wellbeing Group is free to join and open to all adults. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at Boroughbridge Methodist Church Hall, with doors open from 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start. Each session finishes at 7:45pm.

Our group is centred around creative mindfulness, with each session led by Rachel Is Mindful. Rachel is a qualified and experienced mindfulness teacher who gently guides us through a new mindful and creative activity each month, designed to help us feel more present, relaxed, and self-compassionate.

No creative skills or experience are needed, just a willingness to take part.

Registration is required. To sign up, please contact Kirsty a [email protected] or call/text 07305 049296.

This group is generously supported by funding from North Yorkshire Council, Cllr Robert Windass and Boroughbridge Lions.

Cost-of-living Support

We have hosted free cooking demonstrations as part of our work to support people through the cost-of-living crisis. With recipes specially created around items commonly available at the local food share, we empowered attendees to be able to create healthy meals on a budget. Mind in Harrogate District staff were also on hand to provide mental health and wellbeing support.

Wellbeing Groups

We also established a ukulele group alongside our Route One to Wellness Partner, Orb Community Arts. Playing the ukulele is a great way to support mental health and wellbeing, with benefits including:

  • A Sense of Accomplishment: Learning a new skill can give us a sense of achievement.
  • Social Interaction: Being part of a group helps us socialise and develop a sense of community.
  • Stress Reduction: Playing an instrument has been shown to lower stress and anxiety levels.

Additionally, the ukulele is:

  • Beginner-friendly!
  • And accessible (it can be played using only 1 or 2 fingers).
