Sound Bath

July 26, 2024

Hear what one of our service users had to say about last month’s session:

"I was a little anxious about attending this Sound Bath session, as I found my first experience was only partially beneficial, due mainly to my ADHD condition.

The facilitator, Janie, was aware of my mental health challenges and made me feel very comfortable from the outset. The session was tailored in such a way as to embrace my ADHD condition, whilst simultaneously providing a highly relaxing, positive and typical sound bath experience.

As a result, the hour-long session simply flew by and, unusually for me, I felt relaxed and energised throughout, without fidgeting or becoming restless.

Overall, I loved it and would recommend it to anyone, irrespective of their own individual mental health challenges."

Here is some information you need to know ahead of the session:

  • Head support is recommended so feel free to bring a pillow to rest your head on
  • Please keep in mind that Sound Baths place people in meditative states, which allow individuals to reflect on themselves and their thoughts, it may become uncomfortable for you if this brings out strong emotions or painful memories. Sound Baths should be avoided for those with psychosis (hearing voices) as well as epilepsy, people taking heavy medication and anyone in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.  However, autism, anxiety, PTSD, dementia and some forms of depression are a few of the conditions that may benefit from Sound Baths. For people with hearing aids or hearing impairment, this practice may also cause some discomfort. Anyone with uncertainty should consult their doctor.

Janie is mindful that people may be in poor emotional health so will keep the sounds as gentle as possible. Feel free to have a chat with her before the session and she can tailor the sounds to individual needs.
