Masks for Mind
The Government has made wearing masks on public transport compulsory from Monday 15 June.
Now the family behind the Local Pantry Local Food shop and cafe in Pool in Wharfedale and the Orchard Therapy Centre in Horsforth are campaigning to get more of the public wearing face masks.
The aim is to help protect key workers in face to face roles in the food, charity and Therapy sectors from Covid-19. The family are distributing and selling face masks made exclusively for them by top British fashion manufacturer Sunspel. The masks are multi layer, washable 100% cotton water repellant and anti bacterial.
All proceeds from the sale of the masks will be donated to the local mental health charity, Mind in Harrogate District.
Suzie Hepworth Founder of the 8 year old Local Pantry said “ We have already distributed masks to colleagues to our suppliers and the farm shop industry. We have been delivering food throughout the lockdown to vulnerable shielding customers and protecting ourselves and fellow food workers by wearing face masks. We now want our customers and their families and friends to wear them as well so we are selling our new Sunspel stock in the shop and by mail order and donating all proceeds to Mind in Harrogate District. “
Pat and John Barnes, founders of the 20 year old Orchard Therapy Centre said
“The need for our services and those of key charities like Mind has never been greater. We’re taking calls and inquiries from so many people desperate for help. We know that face masks are a key component of thorough Covid security as Therapy centres reopen for face to face counselling.
We are pleased to be donating these high quality masks free to the Harrogate Mind team and their clients. By selling them to the public we can also raise vital funds for Harrogate Mind so that they can continue to deliver vital mental health support at this time. “
The masks come in packs of 10 and are priced at £35. They are on sale in store at the Local Pantry (www.thelocalpantry.co.uk) , at Mind in Harrogate District (www.mindinharrogate.org.uk) and available by post with a £1.40 charge.
